The final Canadian cargo ship that ran aground within the Detroit River close to downtown has been freed.

The 600-foot vessel Robert S. Pierson, which carries about 18,000 tons of rock from Windsor to Lorraine, Ohio, grew to become caught within the river off William G. Milliken State Park on Wednesday evening, in keeping with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Petty Officer Omar Faba stated tugboats from Ohio and Minnesota had been dispatched to help, and by the afternoon of Thursday, November 27, the freighter had been efficiently refloated.

“There have been no stories of accidents, air pollution or impacts to transport site visitors,” Faba stated.

The Robert S. Pierson was the second Canadian cargo ship to run aground within the Detroit River this month. A 739-foot ship, the Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin grew to become trapped close to the Renaissance Heart on November 7.

That ship was released the next day utilizing 4 tugboats, in keeping with a Canadian Broadcasting Corp. report.
