Brown Road construction extended along Orion Township-Auburn Hills border
The development deadline has been prolonged for Brown Street, between Lapeer Street and east of the western leg of Giddings Street, on the border between Orion Township and Auburn Hills.
Climate allowing, the paving initially scheduled to be accomplished in mid-November can be accomplished by the tip of the month. In response to a spokeswoman for the highway fee, work on the non-motorized part will proceed till subsequent 12 months.
The $8 million challenge is funded by a state grant awarded to Orion Township and can pay for security enhancements and the set up of non-motorized trails. The work can be carried out on the border of Auburn Hills and Orion Township.

Orion Township is working with the county highway fee on this challenge.

The challenge consists of:
• Substitute of present concrete pavement on Brown Street with asphalt.
• Building of non-motorized trails alongside parts of Brown Street, Giddings Street and Silver Bell Roads.
• Putting in a brand new visitors sign on the Brown and South Giddings Street intersection in entrance of the brand new Normal Motors manufacturing unit gate.
• Including heart flip lanes on Brown Street close to Glenmeade Lane and GM’s Gate 8.
• Including American with Disabilities Act-compliant pedestrian crossings close to the FedEx facility, at Brown Street and the western portion of the Giddings Street intersection.
• New sidewalk markings and new visitors indicators.
Washington Township-based Professional-Line Asphalt is the contractor for this challenge.
