Father and son arrested for allegedly smuggling 400 firearms into Mexico from US

FIRST ON FOX: Brokers from ICE Homeland Safety Investigations (HSI) in Laredo, Texas, arrested a father and son accused of smuggling tons of of firearms, together with weapons, magazines and ammunition, into Mexico after Customs and Border Safety (CBP) brokers found hidden compartments in two trailers on the U.S.-Mexico border.

On October 23, CBP officers working on the Laredo Bridge 2 port of entry stopped two southbound autos pulling trailers for inspection.

Officers stated they seen irregularities within the partitions of the trailer.

A secondary inspection revealed bogus compartments full of an arsenal: roughly 400 firearms of varied calibers, high-capacity magazines and 1000’s of rounds of ammunition.

HSI officers stated the weapons have been headed to Mexico, the place cartels are fueling ongoing violence.

The drivers have been recognized as Emilio Ramirez-Cortez, a lawful everlasting resident, and his son Edgar Ramirez-Diaz, a U.S. citizen. Each have been arrested on federal firearms trafficking fees and turned over to the U.S. Marshals Service pending an preliminary courtroom look.
