Royal Oak homicide victim ID’d; medical examiner said he died from multiple sharp force injuries
Whereas Royal Oak police haven’t but offered an replace on the Oct. 24 homicide of an 83-year-old man, his id has been confirmed as David Ong of Bloomfield Hills.
A volunteer on the parish workplace of St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church instructed The Oakland Press on Monday that Ong, who died final Friday at a house in Royal Oak, was a member of St. Hugo’s.
The Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Workplace carried out an post-mortem on Ong on Monday and dominated the dying a murder. The reason for dying was “a number of sharp accidents to the pinnacle and palms, and issues thereof.”
Royal Oak police arrested the suspected killer, a 35-year-old girl – described as an acquaintance of the household – Friday night after responding to a report of a person calling for assist in the 4300 block of Sheridan Drive in Royal Oak. The suspect had blood on her palms, police stated, and was apprehended after a quick foot chase.
Ong was discovered unconscious within the basement of the home with a number of stab wounds. He was pronounced lifeless on the scene, police stated.
The suspect’s identify has not but been launched. The arraignment is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, police stated.
A social media post from Ong’s daughter, Kelley Ong Smith stated he died “whereas defending his beloved three-year-old granddaughter.”
“The loss is immeasurable,” she stated.
Based on Ong’s obituaryhe was “Jacqueline’s most loving husband” – his spouse of over 60 years – devoted father of 4, and “Grandpa Dave” of 11.
The obituary further states, in half: “David’s life was outlined by religion, humility and a form spirit. He was deeply caring, a real buddy and a continuing supply of encouragement and assist. He loved understanding every thing about his kids and grandchildren. He liked sports activities and barely missed a chance to cheer on his Wolverines, Lions and Tigers. He loved rides in his convertible, liked music and served as a mentor to his household and for a lot of colleagues and staff. “
Ong based the industrial actual property advisory and growth agency Acquest Realty Advisors, which he led for 45 years, the obituary stated.
Visitation is scheduled for October 31 at Desmond Funeral Dwelling, 2600 Crooks Street in Troy from 1:00 PM to five:00 PM. A funeral Mass will likely be celebrated at St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church, 2215 Opdyke Street in Bloomfield Hills on Nov. 1, with visitation at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m.
