WB I-696 ramps from I-75 to M-10 will probably be closed starting November 14 as a result of site visitors shift

SOUTHFIELD, MI – Because the newly rebuilt eastbound I-696 lanes from M-10 to I-75 transfer nearer to completion, crews plan to make the change I-696 westbound traffic from I-75 to M-10 to the east aspect to rebuild the westbound lanes. This site visitors interchange limits the on and off ramps out there to westbound site visitors. These works are climate dependent and, if postponed, will happen the next weekend.

From 8:00 PM on Friday, November 14 by way of 10:00 AM on Sunday, November 16, the next ramps to I-696 westbound will probably be closed (re-access is at M-10 (Lodge Freeway)/Lahser Highway):

  • Couzenslaan
  • Bermuda/Hilton Highway
  • M-1 (Woodward Avenue)
  • Coolidge Freeway
  • Greenfield Highway
  • Zuidveldweg
  • Evergreen street

From Saturday, November 15, 4 a.m. to Sunday, November 16, 10 a.m.:

  • The ramps from northbound and southbound I-75 (exit 61) to westbound I-696 will probably be closed.
  • Westbound I-696 is closed from I-75 to Lahser Highway. The proposed detour is I-75 southbound, M-8 westbound (Davison Freeway) and M-10 northbound (Lodge Freeway) to I-696 westbound.

Starting at 10 a.m. Sunday, November 16 by way of the top of 2026, I-696 westbound could have three lanes open from I-75 to Lahser Highway, with solely the next entrance/exit ramps open:

  • I-75
  • M-1 (Woodward Avenue)
  • Zuidveldweg
  • US-24 (Telegraph Highway)/M-10 (Lodge Freeway)/Lahser Highway

The next westbound ramps will probably be closed till the top of 2026 (all eastbound ramps will even stay closed):

  • Couzenslaan
  • Bermuda/Hilton Highway

The ultimate part of the Restore the Reuther challenge consists of finishing I-696 reconstruction in 2026, whereas in 2027 I-696 will conduct main roadwork between I-75 and Dequindre Highway. That work consists of rebuilding the roadway, bridge enhancements and drainage buildings.

As a part of the challenge, 60 bridges are being repaired, together with the reconstruction of the Church Avenue Plaza bridge, which incorporates Victoria Park, is continuous and a footbridge diversion is in place.
