ICE arrests man in Hazel Park facility after attempted vehicle stop

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested a Venezuelan man at an Amazon facility in Hazel Park on Monday, February 2, throughout a focused enforcement operation, in accordance with an ICE spokesperson.

Edwin Romero Gutierrez was taken into custody by ICE. In an announcement, ICE mentioned officers tried to cease his automobile, however Romero Gutierrez continued to drive — reportedly practically colliding with a number of automobiles.

In response to ICE, Romero Gutierrez later stopped at a warehouse, bought out of the automobile and ran on foot, leaving the automotive within the drive. ICE brokers entered the constructing with permission from safety employees and arrested him, the company mentioned.

A Hazel Park dispatcher confirmed the ability was an Amazon warehouse. Hazel Park police confirmed the arrest occurred as ICE described.

ICE mentioned Romero Gutierrez was arrested by U.S. Border Patrol earlier in 2023 after crossing the U.S.-Mexico border within the Rio Grande Valley with out authorization. He stays in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.
