The Clinton Township Board of Trustees voted Monday night to deny a special land use and site development plan that would allow a company to run high-voltage power lines next to residential condos down 19 Mile Road to provide electricity to Henry Ford Macomb.

The board voted 6 – 1 to reject ITC’s plans to run the lines along the north side of 19 Mile between Hayes and Garfield Road, which would be about 50 feet from residences at a condo complex.

Treasuer Aiello was the only vote in favor of building these power’s line. While residents are thankful for the board listening to them and rejecting ITC’s plans, many within the Republican Party have started a recall effort for Mike Aiello. Many citizens taking to social media to voice their concerns, including Ken Licari who said “Mike Aiello was elected as the Clinton Twp Treasurer back in 2024. He made a promise to a Republican to make hi his Deputy, a Republican mind you. But what does Mike Aiello do. Mike Aiello decided to terminate this Republican in favor of retaining a DEMOCRAT as his Deputy…. FACT!

Now the township board had a vote tonight that would of allowed a company called ITC to bring in massive electrical towers down 19 mile road affecting the property values of numerous families homes. The towers would of devasted their property values. ITC would of wiped out massive beautiful trees and beautiful landscaping.

Mike Aiello voted “YES” to allow these towers to be installed. In other words Mike Aiello BETRAYED residents of Clinton Twp because he was ok with these towers being installed.”

Mike Aiello was the only board member who voted to allow these towers to be installed.
