Emaciated dog rescued in Detroit. Man charged with felony

A 54-year-old man has been charged with neglect and leaving a canine out within the chilly. Detroit police.

Darnell Lamar Robinson, of Detroit, was arrested on February 2, 2026. The DPD wrote this in a message on Facebookand charged with second-degree killing/torture of an animal, a seven-year felony, and abandonment/cruelty to an animal, a 93-day felony.

Officers have been dispatched at 11:20 a.m. on Jan. 30 to a report of a lifeless canine at a house within the 19000 block of Eureka Road.

Upon arrival, officers found the canine was nonetheless alive and in want of medical consideration. The canine was transported to APAWS Emergency Veterinary Hospital for therapy of hypothermia, dehydration and extreme emaciation, DPD stated within the publish.
