Ferndale School Board Appoints Jessica Newman to Fill Board Vacancy

The Ferndale Faculty Board appoints Jessica Newman to fill the emptiness on the board

Ferndale, MI – On October 13, the Ferndale Faculty Board Trustees voted to nominate Jessica Newman to fill a emptiness on the college board till December 2026.

Newman is an lawyer, group organizer and coverage advocate with greater than twenty years of expertise combating for social and financial justice on the native, state and nationwide ranges.

She is happy to carry her expertise to the Ferndale Faculty Board as a result of she believes public training is the cornerstone of a powerful democracy and vibrant group. Jessica has a deep understanding of the intersection of training coverage, group organizing, and bringing stakeholders collectively to create insurance policies and tradition that work for everybody served by Ferndale Colleges and guarantee success for all college students.

She earned a bachelor’s diploma in social relations and coverage from James Madison School at Michigan State College and a JD from Washington College in St. Louis. She has lived in Ferndale for nearly 5 years.

Ferndale Colleges introduced the appointment, saying that “the board interviewed extremely certified candidates, every bringing distinctive strengths and views,” and that the choice was troublesome.

After choice, Newman was instantly sworn in by the board to take workplace directly.

“We’re happy to welcome Jessica to the Ferndale Public Colleges board,” stated Sandra Dukhie, board chair. “Jessica’s contemporary perspective and dedication to our faculty group will probably be an amazing asset as we advance the work of our Dynamic Plan and help our college students.”

The present trustees are President Sandra Dukhie, Vice President Lisa Kaiser, Secretary Jonathan Turner, Treasurer Jackie Hart, David Crumrine, Mark de la Vergne and Jessica Newman.
