I-696 and I-75 interchange ramps closing in March for construction

ROYAL OAK – The following part of the long-term Restore the Reuther venture will start in early March, with new ramp closures on the busy I-696 and I-75 interchange in Oakland County.
This was announced by the Michigan Department of Transportation Crews will start rebuilding the ramps on the interchange, with work anticipated to final till early summer time. The venture consists of reconstructing driveway bases, bettering drainage, repaving and upgrading bridges.
The closures will happen in phases with indicated diversions.
The next ramps are closed from early March via early summer time:
- The westbound I-696 ramp to southbound I-75, detoured through southbound M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue) and westbound M-102 (8 Mile Street) to southbound I-75.
- The westbound I-696 ramp to northbound I-75, detoured through northbound M-53 and westbound M-59 to northbound I-75.
- The ramp from northbound I-75 to westbound I-696, detoured through westbound M-102 and northbound M-10 (Lodge Freeway) to westbound I-696.
From early April via early summer time, the ramp from southbound I-75 to westbound I-696 may also be closed, with motorists being diverted through westbound M-102 and northbound M-10.
The ramps from northbound and southbound I-75 to eastbound I-696 stay open. Nonetheless, the ramps from eastbound I-696 to each instructions of I-75, which have been closed final 12 months, will stay closed till the general venture is accomplished.
Eastbound I-696 will stay closed from M-10 to I-75 via 2026. Westbound visitors is at the moment being moved to the newly rebuilt eastbound aspect close to the I-75 interchange.
