Mikal Goodman retains his Pontiac council seat

Pontiac’s third District Government Mikal Goodman has prevailed over two challengers. All three ran write-in campaigns as a result of none of their names had been on the poll. Goodman is finishing his first four-year time period.

The Nov. 4 election ends in Oakland County had been formally launched Friday after the Board of Canvassers reviewed the info and counted write-in votes.

Of the 342 votes forged, Goodman obtained 144 or simply over 42%. Daybreak Hannah obtained 91, or 26.6%. Kenya Earl obtained 68, or virtually 20% of the vote, and 39 votes, simply over 11%, had been rejected.

Goodman mentioned his re-election is a message from voters that can’t be ignored.

“We won’t fall again on the slum landlords in Pontiac,” he mentioned as he introduced his victory on social media. “We won’t make buddies with landowners who put revenue above individuals, or with bigots who attempt to divide us. Our metropolis shouldn’t be on the market.”

Earl mentioned she plans to run once more and hopes Goodman does “one thing in District 3 this time.”
