Orion Township grocery reopens after rodent invasion

The Orion Township Kroger has reopened after state and native inspections discovered the rodent infestation had been corrected.

The shop at 3097 S. Baldwin Highway was visited by a Michigan Agriculture and Rural Improvement inspector on Dec. 9 after receiving a grievance. MDARD ordered Kroger to wash the shop and set up units on the doorways to maintain rodents out.

A Jan. 6 reinspection discovered continued proof of rodents, and Kroger officers closed the shop after MDARD issued a stop and desist order.

A state inspector will return Jan. 21 to re-inspect the shop, which has resumed operations and is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
