Pardoned Jan. 6 rioter accused of threatening House leader Hakeem Jeffries

A participant within the Jan. 6 Capitol riot who was pardoned by President Donald Trump is now accused of threatening to kill Home Minority Chief Hakeem Jeffries.

Christopher Moynihan, 34, allegedly despatched threatening textual content messages a few efficiency by Jeffries, based on a felony criticism filed in New York State court docket.

“Hakeem Jeffries can be giving a speech in New York in a number of days. I can not let this terrorist stay. Even when I’m hated, he should be eradicated. I’ll kill him for the long run,” the textual content messages stated, based on the criticism, dated Saturday.

The messages had been stated to have been despatched on Friday.

Jeffries, who represents New York’s eighth Congressional District, has been the highest-ranking Democrat within the Home of Representatives since 2022.

Moynihan is due again in court docket on Thursday.
