Silver Maple in Rochester Hills wins Michigan Massive Tree Contest
ReLeaf Michigan, a statewide nonprofit tree planting and training group, publicizes the winners of the sixteenth biennial Michigan Massive Tree Hunt contest, held from spring 2023 via August 2025. The competition drew greater than 500 entries from 76 of Michigan’s 83 counties, and every county’s successful tree was personally verified by arborists, foresters and conservationists.
A Silver Maple with a circumference of 210.6 inches claimed the highest spot in Oakland County, found in Rochester Hills by Kimberly Reizian.
Certificates and prizes have been awarded in a number of classes, together with the biggest tree from every county, the biggest timber total in two age teams, the biggest Japanese White Pine and any new potential state champion timber. Grand prize winners have been siblings Corey and Dani City for a Sugar Maple [240”] in Lapeer County, Kathy Briggerman in entrance of a weeping willow tree [327”] in Shiawassee County, and Michael Anger for the biggest Japanese White Pine [192”] in Antrim County.
Sixteen timber submitted to the competitors certified as new potential state champion timber and have been submitted to Michigan Botanical Society Massive Tree Coordinator Ted Reuschel for overview and affirmation.
